About
Aikido
The aikido (合気道, aikidō), founded by Morihei Ueshiba between 1925 and 1969, is a modern Japanese martial art derived from the great schools of traditional martial arts, including unarmed practices and techniques with noble weapons such as Iaido and Kenjutsu.
Cousin to Judo, aikido is distinguished by its fluidity, mobility, and non-opposition, all while uniting body and mind. Its uniqueness lies in the preservation of the opponent's physical integrity. Open to all, regardless of level, aikido emphasizes mutual respect and contemplation of the reasons for our actions.

Aikikai Pereire today
The club currently has about forty members, ranging from beginners to 5th dan. The welcoming of new practitioners takes place throughout the year, and the club regularly organizes small friendly events to prolong the enjoyment of the tatami.
The club regularly invites high-level instructors to share their expertise with the members of the dojo. In 2024, we notably invited Ludovic Cauderan 6th dan [Aikikai de Tokyo] and Michael Thai 5th dan [Aikikai de Tokyo] to give a class.
